Summer again. A time in the church of change and transition, of
hurry up and slow down. It will also be a major change in my own
personal life, which might start coming out in Sermons, and the
like, but we’ll see about that.
One of the things that often comes up during the summer, when
our attendance typically drops a fair piece, is what people can be
doing to get others to come to church. And the answer,
surprisingly is; “Have you asked them?”
The Church is constantly looking at ways to expand membership
and we have found, fairly resoundingly, that the best way to
increase our attendance is to ask people to come. And I’m not
talking about clergy, or even elders, but just everyday church
members saying: “Hey, want to come to church with us?”
I mean, I know it sounds crazy but… it might be worth a try?
