If Christianity was a Movie, Easter would be the finale. Big orchestral piece, choirs singing, the stars looking on in amazement as Christ again walked among them. Then credits, cathartic music, and everyone walks to the parking lot to go home. (Or, if they were streaming, goes to the kitchen for a snack? The metaphor works better if we assume that the theater industry isn’t dying of its own excess right now.)
ANYWAY, that’s how the movie would go. But life isn’t a movie, with a happy ending. Happy or sad, life continues. Jesus was raised, Jesus was Exalted, and we here on Earth were left with the task of making sure others knew that, to share hope, to share joy, to share food, whatever we had, to
share Christ’s love.
Easter isn’t the end of Christianity. It’s the beginning, it’s what allows us to do what we do, to be who we are, to love and to hope and to share. So remember, when we gather, when we worship.
The story isn’t over. God is writing your chapter, with you as the writing partner. So what story will you tell?
