He is Risen! He is Risen Indeed! Christ is Risen! Christ is Risen Indeed!
And that MEANS something! It means that all that once held us back can be let go, it means that Death’s sway is limited, it means that nothing on Heaven or Earth can separate us from the love of God.
It means you can fight for justice without overstepping your bounds. It means that you can advocate for kindness even if it means not being nice. It means that you can walk humbly with your God without wondering whether or not you’re doing it correctly.
It means that the mistakes we shed no longer have to define us. It means the old ruts we were trapped in can be escaped. It means that we can decide what we want our church to be, comfortable in the knowledge that Christ’s grace covers not just the mistakes we’ve already made, but the mistakes we will make in the days, weeks, months, years, and even decades to come.
It means we get to live now, not in an attempt to recreate the faith of our elders, but to forge a new one of our own, knowing that we will mess up along the way just like our elders did before us.
It means that God loves you, has always loved you, and will always love you. And that no matter how hurt you are, how weird you get, or how lost you become, there will always be room for you at the table. Christ is Risen! Christ is Risen, Indeed!
